Define the problem
Confirm the clinical question and treatment goal before selecting any medicine; not every symptom requires a medication.
Compare evidence and patient factors
Relevant comorbidity, allergies, pregnancy considerations, organ function, other medicines and patient priorities influence suitability.
Communicate and document
A safe prescription includes the correct medicine and appropriate instructions selected through current professional guidance and verified with the patient.
Review and monitor
